We hope this section will give you the confidence to step onto the court and start playing this fun and exciting sport!

Basic Rules

Pickleball is a racket sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. The game is played on a court similar in size to a doubles badminton court, with a net slightly lower than a tennis net. The ball used is a perforated plastic ball, similar to a whiffle ball, and paddles are used to hit the ball over the net. The game can be played as singles or doubles, and the objective is to hit the ball over the net and onto the opponent's side without them returning it. Points are scored when the opponent fails to return the ball, and the first team to reach 11 points with a two-point lead wins the game. There are some additional rules, such as the double bounce rule, which states that the ball must bounce once on each side before it can be volleyed, and the non-volley zone rule, which prohibits players from volleying the ball while standing inside the designated non-volley zone.

Basic Strategy

The basic strategy of pickleball is to maintain control of the game by keeping the ball in play and forcing your opponent into making mistakes. Players should aim to hit the ball deep into the opponent's court to create difficult shots, and to stay at the non-volley zone or "kitchen" area to be in position for quick reactions. Good footwork, proper positioning, and efficient shot selection are also important in executing a successful strategy. Additionally, players should communicate and work together effectively in doubles play, with one player covering the backcourt and the other taking care of the kitchen area.
